Upgrading from a 40 cube to a 75 gallon (Aqeon) and I've got it all drilled and plumbed and water tested, now I just need to build my new scape. I've been putting it off but need to get cracking on this so I can get it cycling and switched over! Would really love some inspiration from those of you with similar footprint tanks!

Came across this 75g post and wondering what others have done scaping. Aquascaping is always changing as we learn more about the hobby and see different scapes. Fun part is moving pieces around especially when you get more pieces, equipment, and new and/or more corals. This is how my 75 has changed over 3 years.

Initial setup before getting into "Live corals". Scaped with old coral pieces I aquired some 20yrs ago & new fake stuff.

Added live and base rock structure after 6months.

1 1/2years later. Center structure with coral frags.

After 3years happily growing "live corals". Only killed a few along the way but none in last 6months. Do have a box of fake stuff now that I'm glad to not have in tank anymore. Plus it was a pain to keep clean.

Cant loose the jelly fish though. It's a good water flow indicator and everyone that sees it goes.... You have a Jelly Fish. That's so cool. :astonished-face:

@Jim Gomoll I do believe that's the first time I've seen a jelly fish outside of a dedicated tank. I see you removed the barnacle cluster. How did you like that while you had it? I've been tempted to pick one up--I actually ordered one, but it was way smaller than I expected so I didn't think any of my fish would be able to fit in the barnacles to hide like I was hoping.

Its more like 80 gallons. I moved the rock around about 1 year ago there is a pass through under the mushroom rock that the puffer likes to go through.

As note the jelly is fake. Part of the original build with the fake corals. Now only fake is a couple shrooms and keeping the jelly for water flow indicator as well as the initial wow reactions.

Barnacle cluster served its purpose up front as a decoration. Like you, I thought fish would hide in it. Happened a few times with a dotty and baby clown when first put into tank. After a week they found homes in the rock structure and the barnacle was just a natural looking decoration. Down side like anything put into a tank was that over time algae and stuff grow which covered the nice purple/white color. Pulled it out, bleached it and is a shelf decoration.

Currently putting up a 75 gallon aqueon myself. I am going to be doing a floating reef NHSA style aquascape, just taking me a long time. I was just talking to the guy at my LFS and he was saying that you cant drill the new 75 aqueon tanks as they are all tempered glass now. Did you drill your tank yourself or did it come predrilled? Since the LFS guy told me not to drill ive been looking at the lifereef overflows, but I would definitely rather go with a standard overflow.
