Well today we got the substrate, I went with Caribsea Agra-Alive Fiji Pink. Ended up ordering 5 -20 pound bags this should give me about a little over an inch of sand.
And also received our Bio-Spira, I hear a lot of good things about the product. Gonna give it a shot [emoji6]
And next will be lighting and a controller

Haha. Story sounds very similar to my own. Haha. Set up 4 tanks, all still up a little over a year now. Insane money spent. I too was out for a few years w same attitude til my daughters lil boyfriend needed a home for his 30 gal bowfront. Within 3 months I have over 1000 gallons of reef. So I made the ethical decision to upgrade to an 80 gallon deep blue frag Tang with Starfire Glass.
It was the right thing to do right? Tangs need room...
You will not be disappointed with the photon, I have them on my 187 and I am very happy.Well the game plan for lighting was 4 Ecotech Radion XR-15 gen 4. No sob stories though I have been out of work since February and am finally back to work this past Tuesday.
So with that said I couldn’t spend the money on the Ecotech, but plan on returning to the game plan down the line.
The intern solution is a Reef Breeder Photon 50-V2.. Have heard some good things about the product but have never personally owned any..
But it will get us to the start up stage [emoji6]
