I had this for exactly 2 days
Paid $80 for it, and on the 2nd night it disappeared. The rock was still there but the mushrooms were gone.
Tore the tank down and found a 1-1/2" crab that I didn't know was there.
I haven't seen any more like this since.

I'd be surprised to see a crab eat a mushroom, but I don't know.

I'd be more willing to bet that the mushroom wasn't happy with its location and decided to detach itself and float away (it's a pretty common occurance in my tank). Check your pumps, overflows, intakes, etc . . . and you may find it there. Otherwise, it's likely found a crevice or crack in the rock somewhere you can't see.

I have seen hermits eat mushrooms.
The tank had been set up for several years. The mushroom was happy and fully inflated and very happy.
It was with out a doubt the crab. Crabs will eat anything.
I've had problems with crabs over the years eating zoanthids. Caught em in the act.
It was not in the tank as I tore it down completely. Nada,,, gone.

Weird shroooommmmmssss.........

I've been meaning to post on here for about a week now. These are from my hall of fame folder. Some of you may have seen these since this thread has been done before a long time ago. I don't have any of these in my system.

Wow girl, you get some funky mushrooms in.
Looks you're my future hook-up for additions to the mushroom garden corner of my tank.

ReefGoodess-You have the funkiest caps;).

I was pulling dictoya today and found a funky looking Rhodactis like mushroom on a fl. ric rock. I'll have to try to get a shot. Not as cool as those nasty things above, though...

Actually when tonga mushrooms start to come in somewhat regularly the mosaics aren't too uncommon. Probably the rarest of those is the neon green and red sanctithomae mushrooms.

I posted these under “what did I buy” and was told they’re rhodactis
. I’m not new to the hobby but never really got to crazy about mushrooms. After seeing all these nice pics I think I may have found one more thing to collect.

Mainly Actinodiscus sp. mushrooms, but there's one Rhodactic rhodostoma in the group. The green ones really are that bright.
