I'm pretty stinking new to all of this. One of my big frustrations is that I don't have a good idea what a lot of these corals look like when they grow out. How big do they get? What shapes do they take on? Most of the sellers I come across only show the frags. And way too often I see build threads with a ton of little pint sized frags all over the place.

So help a new guy out... post your mature mother colonies! Any and all. I'm here to learn. And throw in the scientific names if you know them :)

I'd consider my red pavona, in my 25g, to be a mother colony. Actually technically two, as the colony the foreground rock and the colony growin on the rock wall were both started from the very same frag.

And back in 2018 I had a large branching frogspawn and a truly massive wall hammer that looked like this. (And you can also get a glimpse of the pavona colonies back then).
Sadly both my euphyllias were set upon by skeleton-boring worms, the wall hammer wasted away entirely. The frogspawn suffered a complete structural collapse, even if most/all the heads were salvageable.

Present day in my 15g, you can see what a mature red monti cap colony can look like, and mature zoa colonies. Not to mention a mature favia colony.
