I'm in the middle of building a small cabinet to put in the wall next to my tank to hold my electronics, "RKL, vortech drivers, dj switches, ect." and need some ideas on how to place and fit everything. If you've built one post it up.

I build mine in the cabinet but it might help you a bit.
Don't look at the mess from the wires etc. Still setting up everything and before I arrange and tie up everything I want to see if everything works the way I would like

Once it is the way I like it the wires will hang down and covered. See pic below

I will put a panel in front of the wires to hide them

I made my cabinet today, 24" x 24" should hold everything I need plus more, just need to cut some holes for wires and ventilation and stain in black

Here's where I'm at now, drilled the holes for the wires and ventilation

And here's what I'm thinking as placement for my electronics

Love my electronics cabinet! I used a fancy (On clearance) Lowes bathroom medicine cabinet:

Also the pics below are a little bit older than what I have now in my cabinet (But not much)

I'll be following along also! I have a stand build coming up and I would like to build a separate cabinet next to it for electrical to keep it out of the stand. Nice work guys and great ideas...

now with the vortech pumps how do you get the wiring from one end of the tank to the other if running 2 pumps? I have 3 pumps 2 on one side and on on the other . If I mount the cabinet on one side not sure how I will get the pump's wiring from the controller to go 6 feet ..unless the cord is 7 feet long need to get a measurment ..looking good..

Thanks

The cord from the driver to the dry side is 8 feet, also to get the driver in the cabinet I will have do disassemble the driver to run the wire

Do you think there is any way to utilize one of the plastic inserts (grommet) like they have for the top of a desk to put the plugs down through instead of taking the driver apart?

Yea the grommet is a 2" hole, but the driver nor the dry side will fit through without taking it apart, it's not hard, you unscrew the back plate and unplug the dry side

Ah I see what your saying. I was thinking the power plug was attached to the driver which it isn't because of the power pack anyways. Sorry just me being confused...:confuse:

Stain didn't work like I was hoping, o well, here's a couple coats of primer

Cut some angle aluminum so I can mount everything

Mounted the angle in the cabinet

Still have to make the faceplates, finish painting everything, mount ventilation fans and wire it all up
