Powerheads at least once a month if not twice a month. The skimmer pump I honestly only clean about twice a year unless I notice a flow problem. Same with my return pump.
Socks are usually a weekly thing for me, unless I get lazy. I typically try and do it when I clean my skimmer cup. I too have problems with a skimmer "acting up" with fresh socks, but I have just learned to change the socks and then wait 60 minutes before turning my skimmer on. Since I have a Reef Octopus skimmer, the 60 minutes feed button works great for that.
Don't forget about the fans on your lights, if they have them.
