Over a 4ft tank why do people run 2 or 3 led setups vs one 4ft long?

I personally like smaller units so I can place them according to my tank needs.

Coverage. More light from more angels makes less shadowing.

And many if not most all leds , do not come in 48in lengths.

Radions, kessils, and primes don't come in a 4' form factor.

Edit to add:

I might switch out my 2x radions for 2x reefbrite 4' units later this year.

I will be suspending them from the ceiling so I wanted to do one 48 for astetic purposes

Look into Reefbreeders.

Many also use 30 or 32 in leds and they work as well, but need to be higher than the 48in needs to be.

I run a single 32" SB ReefLight on my 80 shallow. 4'x2'x16" works very well for my application. It's 12-13" above water line. 70% blue 30%white.
