I am downsizing from 50 gallon to a 10 gallon cube. It will be housing my 2 orange storm clownfish along with my holy grail torch. I sold most of my equipment and was wondering about lighting on the 10 gal. I was running a xr15 on the 50 gal and was wondering what light would be “good” enough to keep my holy grail happy in a 10 gallon cube? I know it’s riskier keeping a expensive coral in a smaller tank but I have no choice but to down size. O I will be keeping the torch pretty high and spank middle of the tank. Any insight? Was thinking a Kessil a80 or if not a prime but was thinking if I can get away with the a80 with the tank size.

Kessil A80 for sure. Sure will be nice with that HG in there. Create a build thread so we can see it.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think the a80 will grow the torch as well? I heard of people upgrading the a80 because their corals grew to a point and didnt grow after that and then after upgrading the a80, their corals started growing again.

IMO, the A80 is way too underpowered for a 10g tank, it’s only 15 watts with all channels at 100%. I’d go with a prime or an A160 if you want a Kessil. A great budget option would be the Noopsyche K7 V3 Mini, it’s got excellent spectrum, spread, and intensity and is less than a 1/3 of the price of an A160/Prime, about half the price of the A80.

I agree on the Noopsyche mini. My son got it for his 13 gal tank and it looks great and was only $100 and comes with the arm. I have the regular Noopsyche K7 on my 50 and really like it. Only down side is they are located in China so it takes a week to 2 weeks after you order to get it, but it comes well packaged. Also, they are a sponsor so you can check out their section for questions. They seem to check it often and will reply back.
