I’m in the midst of setting up my first tank, a UNS 75SA, and I’m trying to decide on lighting. Prior to deciding on this tank, I purchased the Nicrew Navareef 65, so I do have that at my disposal. I intend to keep a mixed reef tank, starting with easy corals. I’d like to keep my options open and future proof to the extent reasonable. With that said, a couple questions:
1) Would the Navareef provide sufficient coverage? I’ll note that while the tank is shallow (11.8”), it’s also fairly long (29.xx”).
2) I like the AI lights (probably biased because they’re based out of my town, but I digress). Would the Hydra Edge 44 be adequate?
3) Assuming both lights are sufficient, does the AI provide any appreciable benefits? I’m not necessarily hyper price-sensitive, but I’m also mindful of the fact I have a lot of buying ahead of me and I’m already 2-2.5x over budget, LOL.
4) I like AI for the reasons stated above, but I’m not deadset on them. Any other lights I should consider in the sub $4-500 range?
