Metal Halide is going to be your best option, I would use more 400w versus 1000 watt but its your choice. I have 6 AI leds that are 4 and 5 years old that I purchased for $100 a piece and run with 4 BML 6' leds on my 310 that is 25" deep. For 48" deep MH is the only light that can penetrate that deep and keep coral on the sand, unless you have a ton of money.

MH has been the primary light source for my tanks I have had for years, thankfully, with everything being in my basement, the heat from MH is actually helpful in using less electricity to heat the tank. Although this time around, I am switching to a titanium heat exchanger instead of electric heat.

Independently of the type of heater you're going to use.. Metal halides will give you the very best and complete light spectrum and penetration in the water column. Get some Blue Plus bulbs around some 400W fixtures and be happy forever. Don't waste your time and money on LEDs for that tank. Keep most of your Acropora higher and they will show their glory!
It's ridiculous to talk about monetary savings building any tank at any size. We need to stop arguing about that. This hobby is about keeping the already expensive organisms at their best health, not saving money! That will be much easier to achieve with halides in your case!
Make sure you can afford the system and go ahead.
If you want LEDs for looks then your problem is also solved. You already know the amazing results of halides. Good luck with your built!
