Hello reefers,

I think every bit of the hobby is science based, but still lot of trial and error until we get the best outcome, like managing lighting and flow for example..

when it comes to light, while most are suggesting 12 hours daily, yet there will be few hours of sunlights shines into the rooms for some which adds few hours if not correlated.

I wonder what is the best lighting schedule you run for your tank. what really worked for you for different types of corals either Softs, LPS or SPS? Love to hear your experinces with lighting the aquarium and if you keep changing it or you fix it on long term.

Thanks

While sunlight rays can creep into the room, either
A. they can easily mitigated by curtains or
B. They are so weak, it won't make a difference (much like ambient lighting in the room)

I subscribe to the 12 hour rule, but only have 8hours at full blast. 2 hour ramp up and 2 hour ramp down.
Plenty of LFS only use 6-8 hours on their tanks

At the moment I'm running the lights for 9.5 hours no ramp up or ramp down (t5's)

I run 8 hours peak, 13 hours total -- 1 hour ramp up and 4 hour ramp down,,, mainly just to extend my low light viewing time in the late evening.
