Need to reduce nutrient right away but can't do more water changes etc?
Increase the hours of display lighting. This will increase the photosynthesis of the periphyton on the rocks, which will produce more filtering. Of course you want to keep in mind what corals you might have, and how much light they can take.
Another trick is letting algae grow on the back and side walls; this will photosynthesize even more, to further reduce nutrients. This also produces more food. And just like the rocks, the more hours of light, the more filtering there is.
And if you need even more filtering, just don't clean the front glass at all. The fish will be in heaven, with more food around them, and nobody looking at them :)
