Day 22 not sure what to classify these as yet, mocha lightnings? First time raising clownfish so I have no idea what to expect from the stages of coloring maybe they are just lighning maroons? a couple are mostly black though. Only had 3 die the entire time and it was from them getting stuck in the diy feeder ring, my fault entirely

Considering it takes a year or more for standard lightning marroons to show the lightning pattern you may have a long wait before you know what they 'really' look like.

Following because this is awesome. For a first time, well done. I hope to get there someday. My two are paired, probably just over two years old since I got them small. No idea how long it takes them to spawn.

I am very curious to know their temperament once they mature!

Day 37 first batch only had losses that were caused by my diy feeder ring.
after having high mortality rates the next two hatches I'm going to go ahead and assume rotifer population in the first 3 days is key to everything... my advice, get real familiar with what 15-20 rotifers per ml looks like

? Did they hatch in your display and you pulled them out? Or did you put the rock/substrate the eggs were on in a separate tank? I have a pair that constantly lay eggs in my DT, I would try to raise some, but they are gone after they hatch. I always hope my sock would catch at least a few, but I think they become a midnight snack.

I'm gonna get a grow setup figured out and give it a go, again. To much invested not to keep trying

and it's not like they don't lay eggs every two weeks.
I have 3 left from another batch looking to put them into a hang on refugium on my display hopefully the stability of 60 gallons will keep them safe

Following to see how the rest turn out - best of luck with them!

To my knowledge, what is sold as a “blood orange clown” is a maroon occy hybrid, but I’ve never heard of this specific pairing.

They all died today all except one.. I'm pretty disappointed about it.. alot of wasted time.. I'm lost as to what happened. only have two others from another batch... they are gonna get king treatment if they make it through this event
This is a pretty odd time for them all to die at once. Once I get mine to about 2 weeks old they seem pretty darn resilient. Did you have any kind of bio filtration in the grow out? I normally move a seeded sponge filter in after meta and although I try to stay on top of it I can get away with neglect in all honesty.

These are from the second hatch only had 3 survive past 3 days 3 batch 0 after 3 days.. my first batch crashed I was still only running bubbles no filter.. these guys I bought a hang on breeder to grow them out in since I only had 3.. I'm so happy with just 3 after the first batch crashed. I need to invest in a microscope and a real rotifer sieve.. another thing I found out is, rotifers don't just die after not feeding or changing water for weeks? Rotifer count in the fry tank is by far the most important thing in my experience..
