Lights off and alkalinity consumption

Hey guys,

I have some cyano in my tank. I want to do lights out for about 5 days. Should I continue to dose the same amount of kalk?

I know this is a temporary solution.

You will have to reduce. I do a 3 day lights out every once in a while and by day 3 the consumption decreases. I would check alkalinity daily during the lights out.

So it’s normal the first two days?

That was my experience, but every tank will be different based on inhabitants, etc.
