I picked this lionfish up 3 weeks ago and was wondering what kind it is.

Where do you live? That's a Pterois lunulata.

Is this the predator that you're wanting to breed live food for? This Lionfish should be fairly easy to train onto frozen food and then you can feed it a more varied and nutritionally complete diet.

If your fish looks like the one in the photo, I would assume it to be a Volitans/Miles or Russels. If it's actually pale like the one in the picture, I would assume it to be a sick Volitans/Miles/Russels.

Does yours look exactly like the picture, or pretty close?
