I have a Fuzzy Lionfish 37 Gallon Tank and trying to find a tank mate.

What I was told the Fuzzy has the smallest mouth of all the lions

Maybe Maroon Clowns or Tomato as these get big..

I know perhaps Anglers maybe compatible but not taking that chance.. for sure

Others?

Nothing smaller then the lion fish. So small clownfish are a no go. Pretty much all nano fish are a no go as well.

I have an angler, he just ate a snowflake clown that I didn’t think he’d be able to get down...I honestly expected him to be dead in the morning. I’m think about moving him into a 55 gal and having a fuzzy myself. But a tomato clown should be good with a fuzzy since they’re on the larger end and more aggressive. I still have a lightning maroon clown with my angler, and he takes crap from no one!

Agression has nothing to do with it. If the fish is smaller then the lion, it doesn’t work.

I also said a tomato clown is on the larger end. My lightning is a tad smaller than my angler. He could definitely eat him. But when that clown comes out, the angler moves to the opposite end of the tank. So yes, I’d like to believe aggression has a part

Maroon clowns get just as big. Fuzzy lions have smaller mouth than body no? I would have to agree with some aggression as well. I was looking at wartskin Angler but expensive and would be nervous..

Lionfish tank mates can be a tough proposition. Anything too big to eat will be ignored, but many fish too big for a fuzzy to eat may be too aggressive for the lionfish. So bigger but peaceful.

Anglers are generally a no go as they will try to eat anything close to small enough including lionfish if it thinks they might fit.

Yea say it is compatible but if it eats a lion both will die not worth the risk on this pairing..

Anglers should probably be alone by themselves lol

The angler and the lion are both ambush predators, while aggression and elusiveness may give them time, the predators will just wait them out. One day you will look and he will be gone. An angler will eat something equal to their own size and a lion can take down something up to 2/3rds their own size. Broad bodied fish have a better chance with the lion, all bets are off with the angler.

Your tank is a size that will be very difficult to find an adequate room mate for your lion.
