Little tricks learned to share.

This is a thread I'd like to see so I'm starting it off. No telling what great tricks we know between us that are great ideas.

Here is a stater:
If you go to the hobby shop where they specialize in remote control planes you can find long tubes, some carbon fiber and some PVC, and maybe some clear acrylic.

I wanted to reach specific areas deep in my tank with my turkey "blaster". I went to the hobby shop and got a carbon fiber tube 2 feet long that is slightly larger than the hole in the end of my turkey blaster tube. I then heated the end of the tube a little with my heat gun and pushed the carbon fiber tube in it. Then I removed it and added a little super glue jell and put it back. Next I decided how long I wanted it so I could easily blast any area without getting my hands wet and cut it to that length with a dremel cut-off wheel. Now I can blast a column or water or bubbles anywhere I wish.

Then I did the same thing with a large syringe from the feed store and it is now my target coral feed rig (with a smaller tube).

I use a toilet brush to clean around my circulation pumps and the loop in the brush works great for cleaning loc line.

I made a similar device for feeding coral. I used an aluminum rod, clear 1/4 inch hose with a nipple on the end and a car battery water remover (looks just like a turkey baster) I ran the hose down the shaft with zip ties and bent the end at about a 30 degree angle so I can get in tight spots to feed my Sun Coral.

Baby bottle brush is an awesome cleaning tool for lots of things! Even has a small brush made for the nipples but great for reaching small nooks and crannys..

I actually used this to clean out my skimmer the other day and because it bends easily, it was perfect for cleaning around the bubble tube... I got all of the little barnicales off and now the skimmer is working great!!

Speaking of brushes. I have an acid brush stuck on the end of a length of 1/4" fiberglass rod that I use to brush algae and such from between zoa heads.

At the end of my siphon hose I have the 1/2'' fpt adapter for my Mag 7 mixing pump, so after I drain my tank into the yard I hook the siphon hose to my Mag 7 and pump in the new salt water from the garbage can.
