Hello. I have been learning about keeping saltwater aqariums for a bit over a year now, I already have freshwater tanks and have had those for years. I know live rock is important. A local shop in my area is about to move locations so they have live rock on a LARGE sale. The tank I have that will be for saltwater isn't up yet (I'm about to start aquascaping). I don't have the tank running, but I was wondering if I could keep live rock in a bucket for a month or two if I put wave makers in the bucket and feed the bucket food.

Thank you for your time.

You can keep it going forever, just as long as you add a heater and powerhead, and top off once in a while, you can even add a pinch off food once in a while to feed the critters on the rock. Basically, treat the bucket just like a tank.

Yes, you can. I bought some live rock and it took 6 months for the tank to get setup. It was a x-mass sale at Dr. Foster and Smith. I keep it in a 150 gallon tote with a heater and a couple powerheads.

If possible, try a square container that could allow you to setup a hang on filter, like a marine land penguin if you have a spare one laying around. But a simple power head or air pump with air stone will do
