Live rock mature - generates heat ???

I have a 70Liter bucket with lid.
I wanted to mature dead rock here, for my next build.

I added rodi and mixed to 1.025 salinity

Live rock and circulation on the bucket.

After 2 weeks I added biodigest bacteria ampul.

After 3-4 weeks I noticed water temperature was 35’celcius - what the heck ???

Heater was turned off - but I see the log file for the smart plug, and the heater didn’t run for DAYS before.

Why is the rocks generating so much heat ?
It’s located in a insulated shed next to my house, and temperature is around 6-10 degree celcius only.

I have never experienced this before ???

Some chemical reactions give off heat.

What is in biodigest bacteria ampul? Did you ask vendor about the heat chemistry?

Newer tried this before. It’s dead rock I used for years ago. Bacteria is ProdBio Biodigest. Never issues before.

Do you have the pump running in there? the pump themselves generate heat. Not sure if it is enough for that much heat, but if it's contained in a bucket....

It’s my only gues too yes.

It’s crazy - a small pump but the bucket is insulated.

I will remove the insulation to get the heat down.

Will the high heat damage the bacteria that is ment to be thriving in the live rock ?

Having just recently done a tank swap, my heater tweaked out. Bactria all good. It’s what other stated after I posted that my water temp got to 95* F! My parameters are all good except my po4 being some new rocks where added and new sand.

If any thing as others have told me, you will get a bacteria bloom.

Yes.
But no heater in the bucket. At first there was - and I thought it was faulty. But now , weeks after disconnection - water is still somehow 35’ celcius without any heat connected. The pump in the bucket is a small 10watt (1500 liter) pump sucking from button and outlet in the top , making water flow round the bucket. (70Liter volume)

I do weekly water changes in a 5 gallon bucket. The pump generates enough heat to get the water over 84F. It generates so much heat that i dont need a separate heater.
