I use the Carib-Sea painted live rock.
Was very happy and no hitchhikers.
Takes more maturity time obviously, but in the end, much happier with no surprises to be removed.

I love Gonis and Euphyllia. Maybe too much

I’ve mainly used live rock, and a small amount of dry. Go with maricultered live rock from a reliable source like TBS, KP Aquatics or Gulf Live Rock. If your dead set on dry , get a small amount of the actual live, not lfs. Better biodiversity.

$25 a pound is insane. I'd recommend a treasure chest from Tampa Bay Saltwater for seeding combined with whatever dry rock you like best: https://tbsaltwater.com/product-category/ups-rock-sand-critters/

For dry rock, lots of people use Marco rock, I used caribsea liferock because of the color. It is also significantly cheaper than $6 a pound online, with free shipping: https://amzn.to/48MQis2
yea 25 is a lot i agree but i can see why it would be expensiver, its from half around the world

Why do you care that it's from halfway around the world? You're paying for real ocean beneficial bacteria and hitchhikers, it doesn't matter where it's from as long as it's a clean ocean source

If you can afford it I’d go with the indopacific option. It has more of the bacteria and microfauna from the habitats where the majority of our fish and coral come from.

How large is your tank?
