I have a company that comes out 2x week to service my 220z They did the build out and supply all the livestock. It’s a reputable company in the area and they also have a storefront. They prefer to keep everything in house as long as they are servicing the tank. I’ve got some fish in there now (Purple Tang, PBT, Midas blenny, starry blenny, 2 clowns, orange fire fish, banggai cardinal)

I’ve been waiting almost 6 months for more fish, they keep telling me they haven’t seen any of the remaining fish on my list from vendors they work with.

Here’s what I’m waiting on:

-yellow tail kole tang
-yellow tang
-any wrasse (have 2-3 picked out from the 3 main genus)… seems like they can’t find any right now
-cross hatch or blue throat trigger
-yellow watchman goby with pistol shrimp
-Anthias

I have a few more on my list but these are the main ones we are waiting on. Curious if these are just very hard to find everywhere or if these guys just need more vendor connections!

Thanks!

The only thing I can’t get is those tangs, but Biota has captive bred yellows to fill the gap from the ban on their collection.

All else very easy to find but I’m in Canada.

Seems like they need more vendor options. The store I work at has a plethora of anthias species and yellow watchman. We also just got in a few yellow tangs last week to add to the two we already had.

The most surprising to me is the wrasses, seems like these should be more available. I can’t wait to get some!

You are completely right, but this could be different in other jurisdictions.

Fish and corals are very available in Canada.
Just added 3 wrasses to my tank 6 months ago now.

Today, I seen around 50, just one store.

Our stores buy and receive stock directly from the overseas vendor.

Order placed, paid upfront, it’s picked up at airport and returned to store.

Be wary of Leopard wrasses, while one of the most beautiful of the species IMO, very hard to acclimatize, may perish.

Just have them order the fish online or order them yourself. There’s like 5 online places that I can think of right now that would have all the fish you mentioned in stock.

They might have some specific requirements for the fish they get. I.e. quarantine etc (yes I know Dr. Reef does this)
Also not sure where you're located so they may be hedging their bets with weather etc.

You can have the store reach out to us to open an account and we can help with getting them some yellow tang. Have them email [email protected]
