Looking for a Sinularia Asterolobata

Yes, I am using the scientific name because I am looking for a certian type of finger leather. If you have a frag please send me a PM.
 
this the one you’re looking for? I was searching too and decided to try eBay. They’re usually labeled as a fat finger or Papaya finger leather. However, they usually get lumped in with S. Polydactlya that has further spread polyps.

I'm late to this post but this rack is like the holy grail of soft coral lol, do you have any updated photos of them? can I ask what conditions they're kept in nutrient and testing wise?

Be honest with you, at the time of this pic I hadebt tested any nutrients in this tank in a very very long time. However, I know they’re low but detectable. For other parameters, this was under very strong leds, primarily white lighting from 2 blades. Pretty high gyre flow with a couple hours worth of total rest through the day.

Here’s the papaya lobo and the Fiji leather as of a couple weeks ago. They both grown a ton in my new tank. Had them in there since September. I’m doing bare bottom, the rock is from KPaquatics in florida. Had it in a bin for 6 months before I put it in here so it’s “mature” rock wise. Nutrients in this tank have been nitrate 5ppm and PO4 about 0.08.

I’ll post the other leathers tonight when I’m back home. Happy Crisis

Ah man this is awesome, thank you - I haven't had as much experimentation with soft corals as I have with sps, but it's always seemed to me that leathers show their best colour / health and vitality when kept at nutrient levels similar to a low nutrient acro tank - and it seems your system falls within this, I'm going to set my new softie tank to aim for these conditions, and look for similar results


Also I'd really appreciate if you could post the other pics!

Yellow nepthea of some sort. Has the carbon fiber type threads inside and actively eats out of the water column.

The pink nepthea is about 1/2 the size it was. I had a magnet rust out and took out a lot. The nepthea didn’t open for about 2 months. Now it’s extending and has its polyps out but is smaller than the pic so I will leave it out

Ah this is really useful!

I have found these corals are similarly really sensitive to PO4 changes / levels, contra to the common belief that they do well with high / worse water parameters, I think they thrive under similar stability to SPS.

The magnet is really interesting too - because it aligns with this assumption.
Dosing ferrous oxide (rust) is used to drop PO4 levels, you had added effectively inadvertant phosphate remover to the tank so it stands to reason this was the mechanism that caused the stress / skin over response.

I managed to source some astreoblata and I suspect mollis, but mine are showing no polyps at the moment so I guess it'll be another chance to test this

High flow just like you would give the acro. Maybe a tad less but just as random. Removing that constant slime buildup helps. Most finger leathers are found directly next to acros in the wild or in their own patch of the reef where it’s shallow and has turbulent flow.
