Welcome to Reef2Reef!!

I'm actually setting up a 40 breeder as well! I'm going to run a reefbrite actinic xho strip alongside some t5s.

Do you plan on drilling the tank for a sump? Or just run hob gear.

welcome aboard the r2r board!

lighting? one hydra 32hd will be a good start point with an additional LED bar strip for supplemental PAR. filtration? maxspect bio spheres and a reef octopus’s classic 110-sss is enough!

A lot of folks here like the Noopsyche lights, me included.
You could do a 20 long with a baffle kit or experiment with using extruded PVC (conventional saws/utility knife to cut) boards or ceiling tiles for the baffles. They even now have black ceiling tiles! I've been using the pipe-glue to sandwich two together for more strength. I made a whole overflow out of it for a 15 gallon tank in my most recent build post.

Welcome to the forum!

For filtration on my 40B I have the tidal 55 and for lighting I have the lucare 36 inch reef light.
Rather cheap, but it gets the job done and corals are all happy. I’ve considered adding extra lighting, but don’t want to have too much light.
