i have a coralife elite series with 175 watt bulbs. im thinking the capicators in the ballasts are burned out because they dont get bright. i just figured out one problem. i was running pulse start bulbs with probe start ballasts, so i got new bulbs and they still aint bright. im thinking capicitor because if it was the ballast core i dont think they would light at all.

they come with hqi bulbs which are pulse start.. are the ballast magnetic or electronic?
hqi ballast "m80" are mag ballast but they should fire both pulse or probe with no problems..its the standard m58 mag ballast that have problems firing pulse start bulbs fwiw...
