Hello,

My tank is up and running and I’d like to know what you guys would recommend for a automatic feeder systems.

I’d like it so I can go camping for a day or 2 without hiring someone to come feed my fish.

I believe you need some automatic feeder specific food to go with it, I’ll take any recommendations for that too.

Thanks in advance,

I like the Eheim Everyday Fish Feeder. Never had problems with it, lasts a long time and isn't too expensive. I think this one will last you forever. Only one out there today that I would use.

For only a day or two, personally I wouldn’t worry about it. I would just give them an extra feeding or two before you left.

Really? That seems hard on those fishies but I could be over feeding them for all I know lol

I guess it could vary on your fishes weight and overall health. I’ve done about two days max before with no ill effects. Any longer and I use the Eheim feeder with flake and pellet mix.

+1 on Ehiem for more than 2-3 days. I use it anyway to get in other light feedings throughout the day.

I use the ehiem a well. If you have a petsmart look it up online and then go in the store and get it and show them the online price, I think it was like 50% cheaper.

It really just depends on what your fish will eat. I've never been one to feed flakes and all my fish have been okay with pellets.

I currently feed a mix of New Life Spectrum pellets and TDO pellets.

I use an iLonda
So the feeder isnt fantastic but does work well with 3mm pellets from nls.
Where it shines is its wifi controlled which allows very simple scheduling options. Want it multiple times a day or skip a day. Tap a few buttons on your phone it does that.

Pellets in an auto feeder for sure! If its just a day or two you don't need a feeder, but if you're going to be gone a lot, might as well for $25 bucks. I notice my clowns started spawning non-stop when I used an auto feeder. When I take it down, they slow down their egg clutches.

So I either go frozen only when I am home, or heavy pellet feeding if I am out of town.
