Acrylic or glass, nice or scratched to ****. I need it for a project, not to set up a display. The taller the better. The cheaper the better. Octagon would be fine. Trying to not be much bigger than 18" front to back.

I may go that route, but as a last resort. How much you think I could build 24l x 12w x about 36h?

36 in high will probably make 1/4 acrylic bow like crazy.... Might have to get thicker acrylic.... But we could build it no problem.
