we took in a Harlequin tusk a gew days ago.
at first allready fish looked like a full stomach but not thought much of it as thinking maybe a well fed specimen at first.
he looked fine in the QT tank being medium active the first 2 days.
feeding on pellets at first as he sure started showing interest to them at day 2.
from day 3 we saw him more lie down on the bottom though still going around when food was given from that day on we fed him our own frozen food mixture which he seem to like alot feeding quit aggresivly.
day 5 we found him laying on his side barely breathing with what looked a bloated belly...
we transfered him to a smaller QT tank and added some general antibiotic medication... few hours later he was death.
when taking him out we noticed some white substance sticking half out of his anus and when applying presure more yellowish liquid came out of his anus.
looked like some sort of internal infection?
can anyone give more info on how to avoid or treat for in the future?
around day 4

It might have been an infection, however, the yellowish fluid was probably bile. That can indicate liver damage. Here is an article I posted that discusses the various causes of abdominal swelling in fishes:

What other foods are you feeding it? Agree on bile as the yellow substance .
Outlook does not look positive with it laying in the sand but these fish are hit and miss.
