Trying to drop some of my normal time wasters and start reading more. What are some of your favorites?

My current favorite is The Kite Runner

I agree on Stephen King......I recommend the Dark Tower Books. Outside of him, I like Clive Barker Imajica and Carrion Comfort from Dan Simmons.

I’ll name off a few worth a read.

Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris

All his stuff is great. Page turner comedy.

Young Men in Fire and A River Runs Through It by Norman Maclean.

Outdoorsy stuff. Wildland fire and fishing. Great writing.

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers

This memoir… this was my favorite book for a long time. Planning to pick it up to read again. It’s been too long.

One Shot at Forever by Chris Ballard

I’ve mentioned this book on a similar thread. I don’t read as much as I used to. Currently my favorite book for a long time running. It’s kind of about baseball, but so much more. Non fiction.

I have been reading the Sharpe series again. Last time I had read any of them was high school. It has been a good read. Started with Sharpe's Tiger, and working my way through them now (At Sharpe's Eagle).

Another series of books I enjoy reading from time to time if I want some pulp sword and sorcery is Conan the Barbarian. It has aged for sure, but they are enjoyable.

Have you read "The Habit of Rivers" by Ted Leeson? That's a good fishing book.

I'm currently reading "My Lake - My Life " by Wayne Gustaveson, the recently retired Fisheries Biologist of Lake Powell, non fiction account of his history managing the lake. I worked for him briefly over 25 years ago.
