So I think I am going to try to set up a small reef tank. Working from home now and thought it would be nice to set one up in the den while working. Thinking of either the Nuvo nano 8 gallon or the 29 gallon Bio Cube. I would like to house a maxima clam and some of the higher end acros and zoas. Has anyone tried to use a sump with one of these tanks without drilling them. I am thinking some sort of siphon method maybe. Any thoughts on this one.

Skip the siphon method. Too risky. Either run as an all in one or drill.

I vote the 29 hands down if you want to keep a clam/ harderacros. It's doable in either tank, just a LOT easier in the larger tank.

Just buy a nice tank and be done with it. I suggest a 2’x2’ at least. The tank is cheap compared to the cost of other equipment and the hardest to replace. Budget at least 1k for a AIO or 2for a sumped tank.

edit: by that I mean total the glass is like 200-300

This would be a second tank. I already have a 250 set up with a 100 gallon sump in the basement. I do want this to be a total separate system. The new nano tank would be built out of what I have. I have both tanks with all equipment and I have one Kessil light for each tank. Really all I would need to get is some live rock. Dont want to remove anything from my 250. I just like a sump and dont think these tanks are drillable. Not sure.
