Lost a Royal Gamma

Don’t know what happened. He was eating just fine. Then he missed a meal. Got a flashlight out and found him alive in his cave. Fed again about 6 hours later and he didn’t come out again. Looked with a flashlight and he was dead. From eating to dead in less than 24 hours. This picture is about 12 hours after I knew he was gone. Sorry, tough to tell much from a deceased fish. It looks like its mouth is closed? That rules out some issues. There is severe caudal fin damage, and it looks like it has damage to its anal fin. That's from tankmate aggression. How long have you had the fish? Who are its tankmates? Did it have this fin damage when you got it?

Ive had him for two months. I hadnt seen any aggression. I have 4 clowns, Banggai, Copperband, Hippo Tang, White tail Bristletooth. Of all of them only 1 clown is aggressive and they didnt hang out near each other. I could have caused some fin damage dragging him out with a pair of 8" tweezers. He was really down in a hole.

Clowns would be my prime suspect as they are on their best behavior in your presence. Tweezers likely not a cause of ragged fins
