Hey guys a bout a month and a half ago I got a Randall's Pistol Shrimp. I dropped him in and then went to add a few other livestock and not suprisingly he had bolted. I didn't worry much about it but I haven't seen him since.

In general how social are these? I don't really have anything in the tank that is highly aggressive pro predatory. I am sure the hermit crabs would get after him if they could but otherwise not a lot of animals that would likely have ate him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't make it. But I know they make a bit of noise so i was wondering if anyone had some pointers on maybe trying t find him before i write him off and get another.

Do you have any goby with him?

If they don't have a goby they will rarely show themselves. I thought mine had died but saw it 6 months after the fact. No clicking during that time. but he was crusing along

I didn't have one when i got him, but i added a randali goby last week. So I am sort of trying to see if he comes out (if he is still in there)

Yea they will find each other if he's alive. The goby will start posting up infront of their main entrance

Same boat over here..... 3 days ago I added a watchman goby and candy cane pistol. The tank is only 62 gallons but trying to find the pistol is impossible. The goby has posted up on both sides of the tank near the glass. I don't see the pistol anywhere. I also added 10 zombie snails, so my sand is already lumpy from them. How long does the pistol take to grow? Will I ever see him? How long do we think it takes for the goby and pistol to find each other?

Check you filter media before you rinse it off or throw it out. You wouldn't believe how many times I've found a missing peppermint pistol shrimp (and even a goby a couple times) in my filter sock.
