I have a FOWLR tank + a few snails and hermits. Wanting to get a cleaner shrimp so I've started checking my Ca & Kh. Ca was low (330ppm) and Kh and pH were about spot on in the desired range (KH - 180ppm, ph - 8.3).
I got some Red Sea Reef Foundation ABC+ and does a bit, like maybe 60g over the course of 3 days (to get Calcium to about 400 I calculated I needed to dose 120g or more).
Now Ca is still very low - 340ppm
Kh - 190ppm, pH - 8.4. I don't want these to get any higher.
I have some Calcium Chloride on the way so I'm planning to dose that when it arrives.
Any advice anyone can give me?

Using all API test kits, by the way.

Get decent test kits first. I don't thing a shrimp is going to be affected be calcium levels. Alk is much more important.

Do shrimp not need a decent level of calcium to maintain their shells?
