Hey all. I have a 120 mostly sps tank that is about 5 years old. Everything in the tank does well. Especially the sps. My only problem is when I add lps such as chalice, meteor shower, and brains and there on the red side I start to loose the color. The red will loose any metallic look and turn a rusty red color. All other colors may fade a bit but still hold the color. I run an 8 bulb tek fixture with 5 blue+,2 Fiji purple, & 1 aqua blue special. I use kalk for calcium which keeps it at about 400. Mag at about 1350, alk between 7&8. Nitrates and phosphates don't register. I was running mb7 for a long time, then ran out and just used vodka by it self. I haven't doesed vodka in a week thinking maybe its due to low nutrients. I do add brightwell amino acid about once or twice a week. Any help is appreciated. Thank

8 bulbs over a 120 is way way way too much light for most lps to hold their vibrant color. imo and ime.

try 4 bulbs.

or full shade them. (hard to do w/ florescents)

That was my original thought, but there are plenty members on my local reef site that keep tons of acans on there sand bed with the same fixture and bulbs. I do shade the chalice, but a few are in direct light on the sand and have great color. That color though is blues, greens, and pinks. Like my mummy eye and a lava chalice look great. But both full red ones loose the pop.
