Greetings all,

I am a new reefer and I am unsure what coral to get for my rock formations. I decided that I am going to stick with LPS and Softies for my tank.
From the attached picture, could I ask some people to point out some coral and the best placement for them. I am specifically worried about corals growing over each other or aggression.

I was thinking of some Euphyllia corals, but I am just not sure.

I have not checked my par yet. I have a meter in the mail and it will be here Tuesday.
Thoughts?

I usually base my coral selection off color rather than species. Maybe that will help you pick something.

I LOVE euphyllia!! I would definitely go that route personally but you make your own decision :). IMO, your rock work is a little heavy. You want to plan for corals to grow (like you said) and you also want to make sure you have enough places to mount them all. Here’s my aquascape on the 1st day vs 1 year later, I used 5 rocks in a 20 gallon tank and made sure there were a lot of arches (looks good to me, I can vary my PAR levels, and aggressive corals can be separated via peaks and valleys) and minimal rock so I have a lot of room to put corals.

I also think that you could make better use of your space by making your rock work taller. The top half of your tank doesn’t really have any rock so there won’t be coral up there. If you don’t want that look then that’s cool, you do you, but if you’re really wanting a full, lush reef look then I would suggest going taller.

Cute shrimp!

Thanks for the feedback, I will definitely take your rock work recommendations to heart.
Shrimpy says thanks too.
