On rocks near the sand... At least that's where mine are. Several plant their foot on the glass under my shallow sandbed too.

They have a pretty tight grip for sure, so I would just let them do their own thing so you dont risk tearing them

Not exactly, you can gently peel up their foot if it's on the glass, by wedging a finger nail under there. If it's in the rock forget it, unless you cut the rock away you won't get it out intact.

i recently collected some while down in the keys a few weeks back, let me tell you its a pain underwater to get those things free without hurting the foot lol
