So just bought a new MA887 today and for the first time using it I am performing the calibration procedure. I put fresh new battery in it and filled dish with the supplied steam distilled water and pressed the zero button . When doing this now screen reads 0 as it should. So I wipe and clean dish and now fill dish with the supplied seawater calibration validation solution and press read and screen displays 1.023 .i repeated this process 3x with exact same results so I don’t think it’s user error. My question is the validation solution bottle has written right on it 1.025 shouldn’t it read 1.025 then? Has anyone else done this and what did they read ? Thanks for any info and help.

Calibrate (if you have one) your regular refractometer and test the 1.025 solution with it. See what you get.

mine does something similar but 1.026 instead of 1.025.

My regular refractor calibration solution is years old so I don’t think it’s still good. I did fill dish with it and that read 1.028. Kinda why I bought the new Milwaukee
