History:
Been in the hobby for several years now and was finally able to get a larger tank at the beginning of this year. Must say that for unknown reasons this was one of the roughest tank cycles ever! I had to deal with it all this time, high nitrate, high phosphate, cyano's, dino's and various other algae problems. However after battling all this for the past half year it finally seems that my tank is coming to a rest. My phosphate is still a bit higher then I want it to be but it's heading the right direction. So hopefully now my tank will soon develop some proper growth and some more color.

Pics in the next post!

Got questions? Just ask.

Helemaal niet slecht!

So what is your Po4 level?
Not to forget to add that N03 # as it's importance can mean a lot to your success of reef keeping.

Thnx Diesel :)

Po4 is 5 according to my red sea test... yes 5 so I think my test is fubar, because my corals would not be looking like this at 5 po4. Currently waiting for my hanna checker to arrive so I can do a proper test and go from there.

No3 is steadily cruizing at 2-3 ppm.

Currently i just have some po4 remover granulate in my media filter. Mostly because i do not believe the value.

If it turns out to be high i will use microbe lift po4 remover.

With a high Po4 level like that you have to find the source where it's coming from as you really easily load up the granular you use.
Which means you have to change it on a daily base.
We call it here GFO (Granular Ferric Oxide).
You also can do daily water changes to bring down that # somewhat.
Of course there are many more like no feeding for fish, or reduce the feedings, Bio-pellets but that will take a while when that kicks in, stop feeding corals, adjust skimmer to a more wet skim.
Maybe @Randy Holmes-Farley our good friend here who wrote many articles about this can shed some light on this.
Give us your weekly maintenance schedule, WC, feed, dose etc.

Thnx for the tips. Double checking my po4 later today.

My tank's battle rythm:
3 feeds a day, twice pallets, bassleer biofish chlorella. Once frozen mysis. All small quantities, 90% gets consumed within minutes.

Twice a week i feed my corals preis coral energizer.

Once every two weeks i do a WC.

Dosing the reef life system from aqua medic.

I think the increased po4 is a leftover from battling algea and cyano.

Will update later today when i figured out my po4.

Dosing the reef life system from aqua medic.

I don't know what this is, explain?

Well, you can see where the problem is laying.
With just 11 fat fish maybe you should not feed your corals anymore
Back-off the feedings to your fish only once a day and half the amount of one feeding you do now.
Change twice a week 5 gallons of water.
Set your skimmer to a wet-skim and with time your Po4 problem will drop.
Remember not to make any other changes as setting off your balance to much can't be good.
If you thing you go slow. slow down even more.
Only bad things happen fast in this hobby.

PS: what's your ALK, CAL and MAG?
