Do they make macro lens for cell phones that will fit without taking the phone out of the protective case? I've got space around my camera lens but its very narrow.

Get on of those clip on attachments from amazon. Wide lenses / macro attachment comes with, I think it’s about 30/40 dollars :)
 
i have the polyp lab clip on it comes with a macro lens, both the filter & macro thread on the clip & fit over the case on my cell it works pretty good, pic's are a big improvement from raw cell pic's

I did, but the lens is too wide to fit into the grooves around the camera lens on the cell phone which means the lens won't work.
 
Which phone are you using?
 
There are cell phone lens options that are specifically designed for reefing like the ones from IceCap or Polyplabs.
