Magnesium & calcium high help!!

Hello:
4wks ago I added 3 corals - LPS

calcium is 500plus
Magnesium 1500 plus

here are my water parameters all normal even alkalinity.

ive done water changes - is there a way to lower calcium & magnesium??


  • PH - 7.9
  • Alkalinity 10dkh 182ppm perfect
  • Calcium 500
  • Magnesium 1500
  • NH3 .001
  • NH4 5.0 ppb
  • O2 - 8.1
  • LuX - 0
  • Par - 1
  • K - 0
  • Salinity - .25
  • Temp 78.6

They will slowly come down on their own as long as you aren't dosing them or doing water changes with a high Ca/Mg mix.

The only way to bring them down manually is to do water changes with a lower Ca/Mg salt. Some salt mixes are high. Which are you using? And are you measuring salinity with a refractometer calibrated with a saltwater standard?

They are fine, especially the calcium.

That said, I would not dose any magnesium to this system, if you are confident in the test (not all are accurate)..
