So i can't get my tank magnesium to rise. I understand that a big part of this is salinity but I've checked and recalibrated my refractometer and checked again it's a very stable 1.026. My calcium is 400, alk 9.6, ph 8.0. But no matter what i do, water changes and dosing i can't get my tank to top 1100 magnesium. I am using the seachem reef advantage magnesium and have been keeping with 30% water changes using instant ocean reef crystals. I bought a new test when I couldn't march my lfs test. I was testing 1050 they got 1200 but both of my salifert tests are exactly the same. Any insight would be helpful.

It also takes huge doses to boost magnesium.

If you want to keep trying to measure it, first try the kit on some new salt water.

I like your method. I've been doing a lot of research. It does make sense. I'm going to try your method. Thank you!
Magnesium test kits are highly unreliable. Many of us do not test magnesium at all anymore with at home kits.

That's exactly what I'm going to start doing

Hey i am reading your system and I'm not understanding. If I need to dose 25ml calcium i should add 2.5-5ml magnesium? Or is that an addition thing so 27.5-30ml? Thank you!

25 ml cal. = 2.5 ml mag

If by my system you mean RMM, then the intent is to add 5-10% as much magnesium as calcium, when measured in ppm. Depending on what dosing solutions you are using for calcium and magnesium, that may be different when measured in mL.

Ok yeah I convert my stuff to tsp because it's easy for me and the conversion is on the bottle. I think i understand just three math's on that where wrecking my brain lol.
