To those of you who use magnetic frag racks.

Why do you use them?
Do you believe their beneficial?
What are the drawbacks to using frag racks?

1. They're an easy and efficient way to store frags in your aquarium until you're ready to move them to a more permanent location. They also allow you to have a good location to observe or photograph your new frags.

2. They work for me so I reckon that's beneficial haha

3. Can be a nuisance to clean around. Algae grows on them and they can be become unsightly. Magnets will sometimes grab my magnetic scraper. My Blenny becomes depressed if one of them isn't in the tank because that's one of her favorite sitting locations.

Thank you! I see them all the time in videos and pictures. I was always curious if people are just leaving their coral frags on them.

It's just a convenient spot to stick a new frag.
Sometimes I leave them there longer than I intended.
I like the corner ones. Uses space that I normally wouldn't use.

They're also good for acclimating coral to move them around and gradually increase light. Magnets are way better than messing with suction cups.

I quit using magnetic racks because I always scratch the glass when I slide them aside to clean.
I found some hanging ones I like much better. I also made some stands. I use them to grow out pieces I break accidentally or to grow out pieces before I glue them down. I currently have pieces on them because I don't have places for them lol
