Majestic angels are one of my favorite fish and I've had a 5incher for about 2 years that has been a model citizen in my reef tank. I've never seen him nip anything.

Well - two big (i.e. kind of expensive) acans just sat in a QT for 45 days, and within about two hours of going in the main tank the majestic found 'em and has been nipping. I'm hoping he just wants to get a little taste and that's it. I've been feeding heavy trying to feel him up.

oh well...

So sorry to hear this...

but angels > everything else in my tank. :)
Yeah. I'm not mad at him...he's too cool, and he's just doing what he does!

No expert but From everything I’ve read once they get a taste it’s a wrap.
I'm guessing so - but maybe he'll listen to me yelling at him.

A scorpion wants to cross a river but cannot swim, so it asks a frog to carry it across. The frog hesitates, afraid that the scorpion might sting it, but the scorpion promises not to, pointing out that they would both drown if the scorpion killed the frog in the middle of the river. The frog considers this argument sensible and agrees to transport the scorpion. The frog lets the scorpion climb on its back and begins to swim. Midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: "I couldn't help it. It's in my nature."

Hard to get scale. He's pretty big for these guys. The acans don't seem much worse yet, so I'm going to just post up down there today and see what happens.

Anybody know if they'll eat lobos and other softies or just mostly acans?

Yes. No. Maybe? It's an angel, and navarchus always tend to have a question mark over them.

Mine leaves all my coral alone, including the lobos.
