I’d love to see a photo of your zosters! I’ve been hunting around for a butterflyfish I like for a future dream tank (Peaceful fish - Wrasse & Tilefish dominant).

Unfortunately, it died after about a month. Looked healthy, was eating great. No signs of illness. Then one day it had no appetite. The next day it was acting tired and weak. Two days later it was gone.

Could've been anything I imagine. But the lack of any outward signs of parasites or illness almost makes me wonder if it was collected using cyanide.

Whatever the case, it was a neat fish with great personality while I had it ... and I plan on getting another in a month or two.

If I remember correctly these fish are found around Indonesia, over there they do sometimes collect fish using cyanide although it’s rather more rare now.

Yeah, my primary suspicion with a zoster would've been gill flukes. But it never showed signs of heavy breathing. And did not seek out the top of the water column. With no visible outward signs on the skin or eyes, just going to remain a mystery.
