I have a six line in my tank with a mandarin and 2 scooters. Just supplement you pod population regularly. I watch for the BOGO special at Reefs2go and get 2000 at a time. My dragon and scooters are fat little pigs. If you get a captive bred you may even get one that will eat frozen too. Mine have all learned to eat mysis when I'm feeding my ponies... But I am bolstering my pod population every couple of months.

So how often in a 150 gal would I need to supplement pods?

I supplement every 2-3 months in my 75. I have a CPR in tank fuge with chaeto and caulerpa in it so I always dump one bag in it and the other bag of 1000 straight in the tank (after lights out so most make it to the rocks). Once you get a good population going you may not need to supplement. Get a couple of BOGO deals... Dump them in 3-4 months before you get your mandarin or scooter. Let them really take hold and that tank should be able to support it. Never hurts to supplement on occasion after that.

My tank was going to be a home for a mandarin but my 6-line wrasse knocked out my display pods before I had a chance. My sump could support a mandarin though, its crawling with them. If i could find a way to route them into my return pump to feed the tank that would probably help but not likely. Lol.

What about one that eats frozen?

Hungry little six!! Yeah, it takes a lot of them. That's why I still throw a couple thousand in every couple of months. Just wanted to let you know it CAN be done. You just have to be on top of the food. Just like any other fish in the tank... I look at it as buying food.
