So let's recap so I can steal this info the next time someone asks me how to QT a mandy: :D

You are feeding baby brine shrimp and ROE (this brand, correct?) Anything else?
Yes!! I haven't used the feeder yet. I am just releasing the BBS into the tank and target feeding her a little with them. I just want her to swim around and get used to hunting for her food. Then I will start with the Paul B target feeder. Yes I am using that roe. I tried LRS with no luck. I also tried pellets and frozen blood worms with no luck as well but I am sure it is different for different fish.
I would put food in the tank and let it sit for awhile and then siphon out whatever she didn't eat. I did this at least 3 times a day for 3 or 4 days. I also tried the food in the glass jar thing but that didn't work either. Again, I am sure different fish would react differently.

I started reading this post days ago when you were first having issues and waiting on food, I felt bad for you... I just now found the thread again. I'm so glad to see she/he is eating... My son wants one bad and because of your issues I have steered him away from one. Maybe by watching you I can steer him back..

I have had mine for about 2 years now. I did quarantine one in a 10 gallon tank. I love Paul B's feeder! At least BBS is something that most of them, if not all will eat. Once they are eating I start offering them live black worms and anything else I am feeding my tank. I add Tigger pods once in a while. If they eat other food that is a bonus. But I do not mind going the extra mile to feed them newly hatched BBS daily.

Glad you were able to get her to eat! Awesome stuff with the bbs in qt.

I wanted to mention something as a reminder for all of us. When we go into the LFS regardless if it's a first time there or been going there for years, we need to ask specific questions. Try not to get to caught up in the moment. I don't mean general care instructions we can pull from LA. I mean Questions like... Is it currently eating? Yes? Oh good, what are you feeding it? The next answer you get will tell you if your bringing this fish home. Always ask question and make it the right ones. You could be super smart in this hobby forget to ask a simple question and be suddenly faced with a problem. If the fish isn't eating the food you can provide just resist the urge to buy it. It may just be that specific fish and not the species. For instance, my LFS just started getting pellet eating red scooter dragonettes.

I do not mind it either. As long as my fish are happy, I am happy :p

Where are you!! I want those ruby red dragonets!!
Yes, I completely understand what you are saying. It is just that I wanted to try to save the fish because she was very skinny. That LFS had also hair donated A LOT of stuff to help me get a tank going at my school and I wanted to buy something from them just to be a good human being :D I just felt so bad for the little fish and I wanted to try to save her.

Defiantly try to get one that is already eating. I just felt bad and snapped :p. I really wanted to save her and I hope I did. She is looking better already!! She is much more active and she goes into "hunting mode" when I add BBS to the tank. I am going to start using the feeder soon. I hope you have good luck with your future mandarin :D. BBS are the key!!

Stevo01, I so agree with you. But some of us live hours away from any real LFS. I can not just go back the next day. I am almost 4 hours, one way, from any. So I mostly order online. And lots of research. I fed my red scooter dragonette BBS also. Poor little guy died when my heater went out on me. :( I rarely feed pellets, only to tank raised fish. They love them. My fish like marine cusine, live black worms, that I order a pound at a time of, and BBS. I once took apart all my rock work to get a fish that was listed as non aggressive when it became very aggressive towards my other fish. Even my mandarin!

I love this site and others like it. I enjoy helping and being helped. :D

Its a longshot to find, but some of my mandarins will eat live blackworms.
It took my dragons weeks to eat live blackworms. They are ORA, so they came eating pellets. Wish ORA would do mandarins again.
ORA has the red and regular dragons (skippers)

I have no idea how long it took my two to eat the black worms. I target feed most of my fish and dendro. It was just an impulse one day to squirt a little at my male, Drago. And he gobbled them up. So I am guessing he had eaten some before that. My Copper and will only eat them and raw pieces of clam. I wish we could get more fish ORA. :)

Hey you have the same spotted type of female I have! I have a Green male with mine! I did worry about them getting along at first. No idea if their eggs are fertile. But who knows I might find out some day.

Shelley
She is the queen of my tank and besides the pods I add monthly she LOVES live black worms which I feed my other fish with a turkey Baster

Chrisfish she is a queen for sure. I first bought black worms for a copper band I wanted. I wanted to be sure I was able to keep them long term since the shipping costs would be high. I can. And since then I have been feeding them to all my fish. And I do have the Copper band now. My little jaw fish took to them right away.

I am glad we were all able to help Baby Ray in getting his girl to eat. It was good to meet you all. :)

My pair both take pellets now and never get target fed anymore.
I started to sprinkle a few pellets in each time I used to feed them just so they were there at the same time.
When I got a paddlefin goby a while back I started feeding pellets more regularly and noticed they started to appear each time.
They are both plump little things but I still dose live mysis, copepods and bbs to my refugium and jungle end of my display.
Keep pods going in as often as you can and get the system loaded.
