Sorry, yes you did mention, except the yeast, lol. I would get decaying leaves and pin them down directly on top of the cyano on the sand bed. What do you think?
Go for it, post back your observations?

Wouldn't dropping leaves in the water that then turn brown and Cyanobacteria disappeared suggest nitrate leaching from the leaves?

No, couldn't draw any conclusive findings to backup this hypothesis outside of the fact that my cyano is still not prevalent in my 390 system. I continue to allow the leaves to decay without any visibly noticeable negative effects.
