I have a double ich situation and need help. I got ich in my 800 gallon and lost most of the fish. I have two black sea bass and a cortez wrasse left. Been dosing ich x and it's worked well. I have not been able to catch them out so i have just been treating the 800. But I noticed a couple new spots on a fish again today which is extremely frustrating. I also got ich in my 300 gallon with a porcupine puffer, humu trigger, Panther grouper, Zebra eel, and horn shark. Been dosing formalin and feeding metroplex for that tank with no noticeable changes after 14 days. Please help me get rid of this thing

May I ask why are you not treating you Tanks with Chelated Copper Meds? What fish have you lost and how long have you had Ich? The only treatments we recommend are CopperPower,Coppersafe, or HypoSalinty. The Eel may be a problem and also the Shark using Hypo.

Can you post videos of the remaining fish?

It's tough coming in late on a disease issue like this. Once fish loss begins due to marine ich, it is often really difficult to stop it in time to prevent other losses.

Ich-X is just malachite green and formalin. It works ok for FW ich, but has a dismal record for marine ich.

The horn shark and the zebra eel are going to give you trouble treating ich in the 300 gallon. The shark won't handle copper or hyposalinity, and the eel will likely go off feed with copper, but would tolerate hypo ok.

Formalin and oral metro rarely work to control ich. You need to dose the formalin at 25 ppm daily, and add the metro to the food at a 1% by weight amount. Even then, it often fails to work.

I think at this point, I'd suggest that you try chloroquine. It will kill all your algae, and if you don't have a true FOWLR, and you have invertebrates in the tanks, it will kill them as well.

Here is an article I wrote on using chloroquine:

I haven't been using anything with copper because of the eel and the shark. I was recommended a ten dose formalin schedule by an aquatic vet through an aquarium but I am not seeing any changes. Would chelated copper be okay to use on the shark ans eel?

Here is a video of the puffer and pic of the bass. The bass had no spots yesterday but now has a few more. The puffer has a bit more since the video was taken.
