Hope that title may have caught some attention!!! lol

Anyway, I was wondering how can you tell the sex of a maroon clownfish? Also, just because you have a male and female does that mean they will mate or mated pairs are hard to come by?

Just because clownfish will "pair up" doesnt mean that they will mate, so yes, they are more rare to come by than say "paired"....pairs. I know that a lot of people who breed clowns feed them a nice, rich diet, and make sure that the clowns feel comfortable enough to breed. Though they are more rare I have seen mated pairs offered on sites and forums.

If you have two maroon clowns, the bigger one is the female. If you have one maroon (and its matured) then its a female.

Also clown fish can change their sex as well. As stated already in a mated pair the female is much larger tha the male. That is the only difference at first glance, but you would need to have a mated pair to see the difference.

IF YOU HAD TO OPERATE EVERYTHING ELSE MANUALLY, WHICH AUTOMATED SYSTEM WOULD YOU KEEP?
