Thank you for all the cares and help, I luv our community. I live in Austin Tx and just got electricity back Sunday so 8 days no power plus my upstairs and side to us apartments were empty so the pipes broke and completely flooded our place so no more tank for awhile. 200g complete loss and some hardware too.

Would love to help but trying to take care of my own issues. After 4 days of no power and 4” water in 3/4ths of my house. My tank is going to take a back seat for a little while

I lucked out. 3 days with no power and my water was out for 2. Tank temp kept dropping but I kept heating up this gallon jug of water I had over a gas console heater I hooked up last week. I stirred the water and tried my best to keep heating that water jug but tank temps still dropped to about 58. Most of my house was in the low 40s and upper 30s except for the one room I had the gas heater in. Me, my wife, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a conure, a bearded dragon, a Brazilian rainbow boa, and a 115lb sulcata tortoise shared that room for a few days... very cozy. After all was said and done I only lost my birds nest coral, purple stylo, royal gramma, one of my fire fish, a randals goby, and several snails. If my tank had been any bigger than a 40g I think it would have been waaaay worse. Used all my rodi I had made up for water for us and the pets. Finally got some more made and did a water change yesterday. Some parts of the birds nest and purple stylo appear to still be alive so I haven’t completely counted them out. Though they don’t look too good. Best wishes to all who had hardship from this storm.

14 boxes scheduled to ship today directly to reef keepers, and more went yesterday (and more will go tomorrow). Keeping our shipping team busy helping out!

We're helping as we can to replace lights that fried due to burst pipes or power surges, even if they aren't Kessils. Feel free to dm or email us if we can help.

It was bad. I am 6 hours south of Houston and while we did freeze and lose power for 5 days. House was down to 53 inside. I am lucky as I hadn't started my tank yet and was still waiting on dry goods to come in and I am still waiting on some. Will do what I can from here. Our local shop setup a few tanks to house corals and fish until locals get things back in order.

I've seen so much support for Texas reefers, even from local LFS stores. Right now they're trying to get as much water hauled in as they can even if it's not as pure as they would like so people can at least do some water changes. Condolences to everyone who lost their pets in these storms.

I was extremely lucky that I didn't lose any utilities. I had just purchased my first fish in 10 years and was stressed out thinking I was going to lose them. Even though it's just a couple of clowns, I would have been upset if they died. I can't imagine losing a whole reef tank or a tank you've spent years building. I wish I was in a place to help more.

I'm in Dallas and feel so fortunate it wasn't my whole tank and my power was only off a couple hours at a time before coming back up for 30 min / hour.... I basically had 24/7 schedule rotating bottles of boiling water I was floating in the sump as a heater and it still got WAY lower than I could keep up with. RIP clown, BTA, hammer, inverts and some softies.

Now the ones that didn't lose everything but came close are dealing with massive algae blooms, but still better than total loss).

I bought a generator solely for my reef which will be here next week.

REEF HELP2960X350.jpg

I wanted to spotlight the Marine Aquarium and Reef Society of Houston (MARSH) who is collecting funds for reefers who have been hit by the recent ice and snow storms.

If you would like to donate please click here for more info.

The following is from the MARSH Website:

As an organization we as Reef2Reef are donating to this cause. If you are willing and able please make a post in this thread! Please share!

Thanks.
So sad, I couldn't imagine sitting by while everything in my tank dies and not being able to help them, heartbreaking! I'll be sending a donation via the Paypal link. Just curious how they will divvy up the money and things sent to the Texas reefers?

On a positive note I bought the Kessil AP9X literally the week this happened. It was supposed to be delivered on the 14th and by a chance of luck it was delayed until the 21st due to the storm. Felt good putting a new light up. The survivors in the tank deserve it :)

I voted yes. Although the source of fundraising you guys have chosen seems to be fine, I donated through another source for the Texas storm relief. Prayers go out to all who have been affected by this disaster.
