I heard that mandarins feed only on copepods and not amphipods. Does anyone have experience with this? I have lots of amphipods and want a mandarin. I don't see many copepods in my tank though.
Mandarins have small mouth, amphipods might be too big for them to swallow

So i could get a mandarin then and it should b ok??
Unlikely, as I just stated amphipods might be too big large for mandarin.
BTW, amphipods need to eat something, thats why they are taking over your reef. Are you feeding too much? Are you cleaning detritus?
Hawkfish would devour amphipods.

Wouldn’t the Mandarin eat amphiopod juvies along with copepods? Thereby control the population. That’s what seems to have happened in my tank.
